Symmetry™ Integrated MultiMedia Controllers

Symmetry Integrated MultiMedia Controllers provide access control, alarm monitor points, relay outputs, and advanced video management in a single integrated enclosure. These controllers use embedded operating systems and are not based on a PC, which maintains reliability and provides high performance. Full integration is provided between the various elements of the controller at a peer-to-peer level and through the advanced Security Management software which provides configuration, reporting, and a comprehensive capability to manage alarms and video.

Flexible configurations are available that combine the new Symmetry M2150, existing M2100 and multiNODE-2 controller products with the new Symmetry Edge Network Video Servers (Symmetry ENVS®) to create a uniquely integrated solution.

The Symmetry ENVS provides a new concept that allows digital MPEG-4 data encoded from standard analog cameras to be stored and processed without excessively compromising limitations in LAN/WAN bandwidth or storage issues. The key concepts behind the new servers are the edge of network store and forward and unique event based recording capabilities.

• • Edge of network store and forward utilizes hard drives within the video servers at the edge of the LAN to store recorded MPEG-4 video that can be retained locally or forwarded to a central storage server on a scheduled basis when the LAN or WAN are relatively quiet. Video can be replayed seamlessly regardless of where it is stored.
• • Event based recording utilizes the local, peer-to-peer hardware integration with access control and intrusion plus network based control from other security management devices in order to only record data when an event occurs or to quickly change the video configuration. A rolling buffer within the Symmetry ENVS allows pre-event recording to take place without the need to store all data on a 24 x 7 basis. Regardless of the video data on the Symmetry ENVS, the system can be configured to send only event related data to the central storage server.

MPEG-4 compression ensures high video quality up to 30 frames per second and 4CIF resolution while minimizing the storage capacity and bandwidth required.

Managing the entire system is Symmetry Professional and Symmetry Enterprise software that are widely used across the world by thousands of organizations of all sizes including some of the world’s most security conscious facilities.

A new Symmetry Video Management software modules allow mix and match implementation of the new range of multimedia controllers and market leading DVRs and IP cameras.
